Memorial Day Weekend

I’ve always loved Memorial day weekend. For me, it brings back memories of summer. Since I was very little, my family has owned a summer cottage on Lake Michigan (“the big lake”) and we always spent Memorial Day weekend opening it up for the season.

Things are a little different now. While we still have the same property, my parents now have a house they keep up all year round, and I’m here in Florida.. where it’s always summer. It’s funny too, because now that I’m out of school, the start of summer isn’t as sweet as it used to be.

Especially this year, since the end of my internship isn’t until the end of July. But, today marks my TWO MONTH countdown. I literally never thought I’d be in the place I am right now, but I’m so thankful for it. I still have a lot of work to do, and the end of my internship isn’t the biggest thing.. it will be passing that damn RD exam.

So, even though Memorial day weekend has seen some changes, I’m still taking it as a time to relax! I don’t have to go into the ED center tomorrow since the other dietitians are off, so I’m just soaking up every moment I can for some self-love.

spritzer time!

Things included in this weekend of relaxation include: dog snuggling, sleeping in, wine, crafty things, pedicures, long walks, wine, balcony-siting, pool time, creativity in the kitchen, wine, yoga and a whole lot of nada.

  1. Loving all that self-love!! The next two months will fly by and you’ll rock your exam. No doubt. My memorial day weekend is at the boat. Food, running, family, loving. Doesn’t get much better :)

  2. Congrats on starting your two-month countdown! Looks like you’re having an awesome weekend. I’m working tomorrow, which kind of sucks, but it’s better than not having any job, I guess.

  3. Hey Emily, Long time no comment! Glad to hear you are in the final stretch of the internship. I think the exam will be no sweat for you, from what I’ve heard, the internship is the hardest part of the RD process (besides organic chem…lol) Speaking of sweat, I wish I lived in an always-summer place!! Memorial day weekend was cold and rainy in Boston this year, which wasn’t fun since I was at an outdoor Music Festival the whole time.

    • Ahhhhh I’ve heard that too except I’m dreading actually starting to study for the exam, I need to do that soon. It’s been raining ALL WEEK here though so your weather hasnt been much better!!!
